The Bermuda Post Office has said that there will be earlier deadlines for letters and parcels sent overseas for Christmas.

The reason is because letters and parcels will be subject to a holding time in Bermuda of approximately three days for the US and Canada, four days for the West Indies and eight days to the UK.

Those wishing to airlift to Australia, Asia, Africa and New Zealand who have not already mailed items have missed the October 3 deadline and will have to opt for the air mail service.

All airlifted parcels and letters or printed material must be dropped off at the Post Office by 3 p.m. on the scheduled days.

Airlifting parcels to the Azores, Portugal and Europe must be sent on October 17, to South America by October 20 and for the Bahamas and Jamaica by October 31.

For the UK and West Indies, parcels must be sent by November 7 to arrive by Christmas and those sent to Canada must do so by November 13.

Parcels and letters or printed material sent to the US must be sent by November 17.

Printed material and letters sent to South America, the Azores and Portugal must be sent by November 3. Mail going to Canada, the Bahamas, Jamaica and the West Indies must be sent by November 12 and the UK and Europe mail must be sent by November 14.
