The whereabouts of an Italian man arrested after fighting on a plane which was forced to divert to Bermuda remain a mystery.

The Boeing 767 jet, carrying 245 passengers, was travelling from Milan, Italy to Havana, Cuba when the fight broke out among two passengers. The captain of the Lauda Air jet decided to divert to Bermuda, touching down at Bermuda International Airport at 5.30 p.m on Saturday.

One man was taken off the plane in handcuffs while a second was treated for facial injuries before continuing to Havana when the plane left at 7 p.m. that night.

A Bermuda Police spokesman said the arrested man's actions had been brought on by medication for an unspecified condition. Police considered charges unnecessary, and handed the man over to Aircraft Services of Bermuda, who were reportedly deciding whether to repatriate the man to Italy.

However, an Aircraft Services spokesman refused to comment yesterday, and would not confirm whether or not the man was still on the Island.

A Barbadian woman who was taken off an Air Jamaica flight in Bermuda after suffering an asthma attack has left the Island.

The flight, travelling to Barbados from New York, had to make an emergency landing in Bermuda at 10.30 a.m. on Friday after the woman lost consciousness. While the woman was taken to hospital, the plane continued on to Barbados at 11.45 a.m.

The woman recovered and was able to continue to Barbados.
