There is no intention to disband the Bermuda Police?s gang unit.

The Force has issued a strong response to rumours that have emerged on the Island that the unit, set up to combat rising numbers of young Bermudians organising and developing links with infamous gangs in the US, was being disbanded.

That is not the case now or for the foreseeable future, according to the Police.

A police spokesman said: ?It is not being disbanded and it was never in danger of being disbanded. The gang unit remains in place and it is going to be a future part of the Police units.?
