An illegal immigrant who was deported in September 2001 and re-entered the Island on another man's passport in April this year was given a deportation order in Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Linchmore Taylor, 37, of St. Andrew's, Jamaica pleaded guilty to entering the Island on a false passport and also to staying longer than allowed.

Crown counsel Anthony Blackman told the court that when Taylor was arrested on October 1, he was using the name Delroy Wilton Grant. During an interview he told Immigration Officers that he was Linchmore Taylor who had been previously deported.

When using the name Delroy Wilton Grant he re-entered the Island and was given a stamp in the passport, which stated that he was given permission to stay for 21 days and could not take up employment.

Had he used his original passport his name would have been on a stop list at the airport.

Taylor said: "It is all my mistake. If you could show some leniency."

Mr. Greaves asked: "What do you want me to do with him?

Mr. Blackman suggested a deportation order.

Mr. Greaves handed down a deportation order and remanded Taylor in custody until it could be carried out.
