All recreational lobster divers are being asked to contact the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) which is updating its database.

DEP this week said a number of inconsistencies had been found in the current database and all licence holders are required to update their information.

All licence holders who renewed their licences this year are required to contact the DEP and provide an e-mail address as well as current telephone contact numbers and addresses.

The information can be sent by e-mail (lobsterdivergov.bm), fax (236-7582) or phone (236-4201 x210).

Alternatively, lobster divers may visit the DEP offices at the Botanical Gardens to fill in an updated registration form.

Once the DEP has completed its database update, an updated map of the Bermuda reef platform will be sent out.

The new map indicates the areas where lobster diving is not permitted as well as all the protected areas where recreational lobster diving is prohibited year round.

“This is the only map that should be used to guide lobster diving activities,” the DEP said in a press release.

The maps can also be picked up from the DEP offices.
