A 28-year-old man who tried to commit suicide early Saturday morning was undergoing psychiatric evaluation at St. Brendan's Hospital last night, the Police reported yesterday.

Police said that at about 8.35 a.m. they rushed to the Brangman Building construction site on the corner of King and Reid Streets in Hamilton after they received a 911 emergency call from a frantic worker on the site.

Witnesses said the young man climbed atop of the building, strung a rope down from the side of the building and was preparing to hang himself.

Police responded in minutes and after a short time managed to talk the man from down atop the building.

It is understood that he was taken by an unmarked car to the King Edward Memorial VII Hospital immediately after the event and then transferred to St. Brendan's, where he is under supervision.
