Two more security guards are to be recruited at the Bermuda International Airport in response to the terrorist alert after attacks in the US.

Bermuda Security Group president Bill Black said the pair will boost baggage checks after the UK's Civil Aviation Authority demanded greater vigilance.

He said: "We have had to double up, there will be a lot more hand searches of bags. You can expect to be searched several times. We have several dozen additional metal detectors, they are hand held and are being used extensively."

Nail clippers, nail files and razors are now banned items said Mr. Black.
