A Cablevision worker was verbally abused and later assaulted by a number of youths on Wednesday.

The man was working on the lines at St. Anne's Road in Southampton and was confronted by a group of youths riding at high speeds while verbally abusing him.

Police were called to the victim's home at around 10.45 that night and the man explained that some of the youths came to his home wielding baseball bats and helmets.

He confronted them and an altercation broke out. In the process he received a split lip. The group of youths left the scene when they were told Police were on their way.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or any information concerning this incident.
