Florence gaining strength

Bermuda residents were today urged to keep a close eye on Tropical Storm Florence, with forecasters predicting the storm could come closer to Bermuda than expected.
Florence was located at 19.0 degrees north and 51.4 degrees west or approximately 1,077 nautical miles southeast of Bermuda at 6 p.m. today.
The storm, packing winds of 45 knots gusting to 55 knots, was moving west-northwest at eight knots.
Her closest point of approach within the next 72 hours was projected to be 363 nautical miles to the south on Saturday, but the projected track has her moving to the west of the Island through Monday, at which time she is expected to be a hurricane packing winds of 95 knots.
