Island hosts airline conference

Bermuda will be hosting a major international airline conference this week.The current state of the airline industry will be the topic of discussion at the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Air Service Development and Trade Show which will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel beginning today until Friday.

The current state of the airline industry will be the topic of discussion at the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Air Service Development and Trade Show which will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel beginning today until Friday.

This conference is expected to be filled with a diverse mix of airline, airport and tourism perspectives and will be attended by aviation professionals from around the globe.

Tourism and Transport Minister Ewart Brown will deliver the opening keynote address, entitled "State of the Aviation Industry ? Adjusting to Uncertainty and Turbulent Times'.

This prestigious event is expected to draw more than 100 airport and airline executives from the US, Canada, Caribbean and Europe.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs from the United States Department of Transport, Susan McDermott, will deliver the lunchtime keynote address tomorrow.

The conference will also host several workshops which will focus on various aspects as discovering how to leverage an airport's strengths and capture new markets, reviewing case studies that reveal the secrets of translating market opportunities into market reality and exploring approaches that address market challenges and the scarcity of resources.
