A solution to the perennial traffic problem at Collector's Hill may be on its way.

Works and Engineering Minister Alex Scott said yesterday that his Department had completed a study into the matter which began a year ago.

Mr. Scott said he expected that the recommendations of the study will be shared with property owners, businesses and other stakeholders in the area within two weeks.

He commended his technical officers for what he called an "excellent, robust study of the challenges".

He added that he was keen to hear feedback on the study's recommendations from the Collector's Hill community.

"While I think it's an excellent study, it's not engraved in granite. There are other options that may come up."

Traffic congestion at the Collector's Hill South Road junction has been the bane of area residents for years, and while there have been no shortage of suggestions from concerned members of the public, the issue has defied resolution.

In the run up to the Smith's South by election in July last year, Government candidate Sen. David Burch announced that he had taken up the matter with the Department of Works and Engineering and a survey was to be conducted as the first step to coming up with a plan to deal with the problem.

A survey was done last summer and the Department was reported to be planning another one for the winter to assess whether traffic patterns in the area are subject to seasonal variations.
