Budgies edge past Swifts in high scoring affair

Women's 'A' DivisionBraces from Lakae Dill and Keishae Robinson were enough to cancel out Ryane Bardgett's hat-trick and earn Budgies the win.

Dill opened the scoring in the 15th minute before doubling the Budgies lead in the 21st minute.

Swifts drew within one goal in the 25th minute when Bardgett set up Kelah Osborne who cooly slotted home.

Bardgett got her first in the 43rd to level matters, before scoring two more in the 57th and 63rd minute to put the Swifts in a winning position.

But some poor Swifts defending allowed Budgies' Marcia Ford to score in the 65th minute, but a penalty corner goal in the 67th minute by Robinson drew the teams level once again.

A field goal in the 69th minute off the stick of Keishae Robinson earned the Budgies the win.

Ravens 2Ravens got goals from Alison Beaulieu and Megan Troake to earn their win. Beaulieu gave Ravens the lead from a field goal in the 15th minute, before Troake doubled the lead in the 20th minute. Swallows' Hannah Ellison scored in the 57th minute to make it a nail-biting finish.

Swallows' Mallory Towlson opened the scoring in the 38th minute, before Maria Dobinson put the side two up 53rd minute.

Kayla Kellman struck in the 54th to make the points safe.

It took the Ravens nine minutes to get on the scoresheet in the win over Canaries. Tracy Stewart put the side ahead before Cara Johnston scored Ravens second goal in the 52nd. Ravens third field came in the 66th minute from Georgia Harris which ended the game as a contest.

Cardinals 1Amori Venter cancelled out Ryane Bardgett's to earn Cardinals a share of the spoils against Swifts.

Bardgett took advantage of a quick ball received at the top of the area in the 37th minute to put Swifts ahead.

Venter cracked the ball into a packed circle which deflected off Swifts keeper Latonia Fray's shoulder and into the right hand corner to even the score.

Men's DivisionRebels scored a late consolation goal as Panthers ran out winners in comfortable fashion.

Chris Chapman scored in the 21st minute before Jerome Overbey doubled the score after a counterattack lead by Matthew Spencer.

The second half saw the Rebels putting pressure on Panthers mainly by crosses into the area, however, Panthers, through Matthew Spencer and Justin Barritt controlled the ball and in the 43rd minute Phil Philpott made it 3-0 to the Panthers and in the 55th minute he scored again to make it 4-0.

The Rebels pulled a goal back in the 56th minute when Matthew Fergusson scored a field goal. Minutes later Matthew Grace saved a penalty-kick taken by John Richmond.

Chameleons overcame Upstarts in a high scoring affair.

Chameleons raced into a 4-0 lead within the first 20 minutes, with Richard Cox (4th, 15th), Adam Griffiths (17) and James Corby (19) all finding the net.

However with the game seemingly sewn up, complacency set in, and two long balls led to Upstarts' Bruce Smith scoring field goals in the 29th minute and Adam Holdt in the 31st minute to end the first half 4-2 to Chameleons.

Paul Deans scored a well executed reverse stick strike to restore Chameleons' three-goal cushion in the 58th minute.

Upstarts, however, scored in the 62nd through Donny Moniz, making the score 5-3. In the 70th minute, a long run saw Chameleons' Robin Smallman carve through a Upstarts' defence, nutmegging the last defender to score his team's sixth goal of the game.
