Hurricane season arrives

Hurricane season has officially arrived after Bermuda Weather Service yesterday issued its first storm warning.
The advisory was for a tropical depression which at noon today was 715 miles west of the Island and was considered a potential threat to Bermuda. It is packing 50 knot winds with gusts to 60 knots and is moving east-northeast at 4 knots.
The closest point of approach within the next 72 hours is forecast to be approximately 400 nautical miles to the NNW at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
