Bermuda's new Premier, Alex Scott, has the unqualified endorsement of the most important person in his life.

"I'm very pleased and very proud that his colleagues have the confidence that he can guide and lead the party and also guide and lead the country," said Olga Scott, the wife of the Premier.

"He is a very committed man, he's very focused. He has a sharp wit and he also has a great sense of humour."

Mrs. Scott, a civil servant, reassured us that Mr. Scott was "fine" health-wise.

"I know he will give his all for the country."

She added that Mr. Scott was "very disciplined and I think this is why he is going to accomplish a lot. He is very disciplined and he can structure his life and his time. I will be there with him and his family will be there with him."

She said the family had not yet discussed whether they will be moving into the Premier's official residence.

"That has not been an issue we would want to address at this time."
