Advertisements for the Police Commissioner's $130,000-a-year post will be placed next month as the hunt for Jonathan Smith's replacement begins.

Mr. Smith steps down in December after five years in the job.

Deputy Commissioner George Jackson and Assistant Commissioner Carlton Adams are tipped to be in the running along with Superintendents Roseanda Jones and Sinclair White.

However some of the potential candidates might be tempted by a similar job offer in the Cayman Islands which has been advertising in The Royal Gazette for a new Police Commissioner.

The three-year post offers a salary of up to $133,000 to command 364 officers keeping law and order among the 45,000 population.

The job is also expected to be advertised overseas.
