Electronic TCD service in the pipeline
A new electronic initiative for the Transport Control Department (TCD) was announced this week by Transport Minister Dr. Ewart Brown.
On-line services are to be offered in the future by TCD Bermudian, David Burt, who is at the helm of the new project.
Although there was no definite time when the eTCD programme would be up and running when it does hit the Internet Bermudian drivers will find a range of services available.
Dr. Brown said the website would provide an on-line appointment system for customers to be able to sign up for tests on-line, provide services for customers to apply for permits online, create digital licences to conform to international security standards and provide information and answers to questions.
Mr. Burt received his bachelor in Business Administration and a master's in Information Systems from George Washington University and Dr. Brown added the Government had done a good amount to ensure Bermudian's were first choice for jobs.
"Our commitment to ensuring young people have a place in their country is real and the Ministry will continue to break the glass ceilings which were the trademark of the UBP administrations before us," Dr. Brown said.
Mr. Burt said he was excited about beginning this project and said the initiative would be a good example of what electronic media would do for the country.
