A Pembroke woman feels lucky to be alive after her car windscreen was pierced last week by what she thought was a shot from a B.B. gun.

"It came close to my head and apparently, one second later, and it would have been fired into my temple, which would have killed me," said Sandra Hunt, of Cox's Hill Road, who will have to pay $600 for a new windscreen after something hit her jeep while she and her son were driving along Marsh Folly Road last Friday.

"I heard a cracking sound and my son initially said he thought it was a just a rock that had flown up from the tyre but I went to the Police Station and they discovered that it was something really hard and they said a B.B. gun had been fired at the window."

She said: "Something that small and that high-powered would be very dangerous. I feel relieved to be alive but it's made me a bit timid about driving.

"We didn't see anyone when it happened and I suppose they must have been hiding in the bushes. I don't know why someone would have done such a thing. I suppose it was just some mischievous child."

Mrs. Hunt said she felt compelled to warn other drivers to keep an eye out in case the shooter strikes again.
