The dream: Bermuda in the World Cup
Premier Alex Scott told MPs on Friday that he dreamed about Bermuda one day competing in the football World Cup.
Mr. Scott said in the House of Assembly that it was a joy to see nations competing against one another on the football field and different flags flying around the Island.
"Some day I would like to dream that impossible dream," he said. "Some day I would like, just for one of the early games, I can see little Bermuda go out there."
He described how he had enjoyed watching the tournament and particularly players from Trinidad and Tobago, whom he described as "courageous" and "heroic".
"They played brilliantly," he said of the Caribbean side, which went out of the contest in the group stage. "They represented the country and football well."
Bermuda has qualified for the cricket World Cup, to be held in the West Indies next year.
