Finance Minister Eugene Cox pledged to finish all critical capital projects yesterday if his Government is re-elected but other projects will have to be put on the backburner.

He said capital spending would not exceed current account revenue. Mr. Cox pledged to "prune the capital expenditure programme to include only those projects that are highly likely to proceed based on capacity levels in the construction industry".

He said the Berkeley project would be finished as would anything that had already been started.

And he indicated the plan to build a new police station and court complex would go ahead after the PLP had witnessed the need for a rebuild during a visit in Opposition under Freddie Wade. He said: "That's another one that is crying out for donkey's years. That one I am sure would end up as a high priority."

Asked about the plan for a new bus terminal he said it would be up to priorities discussed at cabinet.
