United Bermuda Party candidate for Warwick South Central Gwyneth Rawlins might be new on the election block - but she is certainly familiar with the streets of Warwick.

The 54-year-old grandmother, who lives in Ord Road, Warwick, is secretary of the UBP and decided to take up the offer of becoming an election candidate for the first time because she wanted to make a difference for her country. Ms Rawlins began canvassing in February and said she had already knocked on every single door in her district, and plans to spend the next three weeks going around a second time. She said she enjoyed the fact that constituency number 26 was so diverse, and said despite the fact that it was fairly small and compact, it was very densely populated.

“I find the area very mixed,” said Ms. Rawlins. “I'm not talking about race, but the fact that there are different types of people living there. It's a very grass roots area...”
