Horse buggy driver John Flood has hit out at new colleagues who are flouting the voluntary ban on taking routes through rush-hour in Hamilton.

The veteran driver said at least three people in his business were eating right into the 4 to 6 p.m. curfew.

He fumed: ?They are taking advantage.?

The buggies can cause massive traffic tailbacks but Corporation of Hamilton Secretary Kelly Miller said there had been only two complaints about the problem in the last few months.

Mr. Flood, who has been operating horse buggies for 34 years, also complained drivers were dropping horse manure on the streets rather than catching it in nappies hung under the horses.
