The war against drugs will be at the top of Premier Alex Scott?s agenda this week at the 26th Caricom annual conference in St. Lucia.

Speaking from Miami yesterday, where he is currently attending the Caribbean Hotel Industry Conference ? a forum to discuss the challenge?s confronting the region?s tourism sector ? Mr. Scott, pictured, said he would be seeking further guidance from Caribbean islands near the South American mainland as to what more can be done to disrupt the efforts of drug importers.

?The security of Bermuda against the import of drugs is something that concerns me greatly,? he said.

?The conference will provide me with an opportunity to discuss with these countries how they have gone about tackling the drug issue and undermining the drug routes. This is something I?m really keen to pursue while I?m there.?

The conference starts on Friday and the Premier is expected to return to Bermuda on July 4.
