Long time aviation enthusiast and Hollywood star John Travolta flew his Qantas Boeing 707 into Bermuda on Friday.

Terminal manager Michael Osbourn told The Royal Gazette: "John Travolta owns the plane and it is our understanding that the plane is painted in Qantas colours through an arrangement with Qantas Airlines."

When asked if he knew if the actor, who has starred in such blockbusters as 'Saturday Night Fever', 'Grease' and 'Pulp Fiction', was on the plane he said, "I don't know."

But an ASB agent, who did not wish to be named, confirmed that Mr. Travolta had been on his plane and was on the Island but did not say why he had travelled to Bermuda.

The plane, which Mr. Travolta bought five years ago to travel to 13 different cities as Qantas' "ambassador-at-large", landed in Bermuda on Friday.

The actor, who has been interested in flying from a young age, worked with Qantas Airlines to tour the globe "to try and rebuild trust and friendship" after the September 11 tragedy, the Qantas website said. The website also said he bought the Boeing 707 and repainted it and redesigned the interior so that 21 passengers can fly in "absolute luxury".

Although it has not been confirmed why Mr. Travolta has come to the Island it is possible that he may be staying at Pink Beach Club. But when asked President of the club, Michael Williams said: "I have nothing to say about that, we don't give out information about our guests."
