The Bermuda Counsellors Association will present a letter to Housing Minister Ashfield DeVent next week calling for action on the ?desperate and alarming? housing crisis.

The letter calls on Government and the private sector to help the community find a workable solution, ?especially our older and younger Bermudians and residents?.

In a separate letter addressed to BCA members, colleagues and friends, BCA chairperson Gwendolyn Creary described the letter to Mr. DeVent as ?an effort to give the Bermuda public a voice?.

?Like many in Bermuda, we are gravely concerned about the increasing costs of housing and how the inability to meet these costs have resulted in less than optimal living situations and, in too many cases, has led to homelessness,? Ms Creary wrote.

The letter was drafted ?on behalf of any members of the public who wish to articulate to members of Government and the private sector their concerns.

?Anyone is welcome to print the letter from our website, www.bermudacounsellors.bm, and circulate it within your circle of influence ? workplace, church, neighbourhood ? and have it signed by as many people as possible.

?The signed letters can be returned to the post office box at the bottom of the letter, or you can leave a message on the voicemail so that arrangements can be made with you to collect the letter.

?The campaign need not stop here. We encourage everyone to continue signing the letter and send it to the Minister directly until significant action is taken that makes housing affordable for all of Bermuda?s citizens and residents.

?Change will only come as we all raise our voices to declare the need for it.?
