The deadline for getting on the next updated eligible voters' register is June 1, the Parliamentary Registrar said yesterday.

In a press statement issued by Government Information Services (GIS) the Parliamentary Registrar Sabrina Phillips announced that an Island-wide mail out began this week reminding residents to ensure that they are registered to vote.

She said the mailing is the first since the implementation of continuous registration in 1999.

All those who are eligible to vote can register. And those who are registered but have changed their addresses or names since their last registration should make those changes known to the Registrar.

"We are particularly interested in reaching those who have turned 18 during the past three years and who may have overlooked their requirement to register," Ms Phillips said.

"Bermuda is in a very enviable position with a registration of just under 94 percent. Through the current all household mail out, we are attempting to reach the last six percent of voters who have not registered and to encourage those already registered to ensure the accuracy of their registrations."

The register is available for viewing at Post Offices, Police stations, the Bermuda Library and Parliamentary Registration Office.

The next register will be published June 15. Only registration forms completed by June 1 will be included in the upcoming register.
