New school for boys planned

An small private school for boys may be open in Hamilton Parish as early as next September.

An application has been submitted to the Planning Department for a change of use of a Sleepy Hollow Drive outreach facility to a private school and outreach facility.

The application for final approval was submitted by Ruth Paynter who notes in a letter to the Planning Department:

"The school will admit 20 male students in September 2002 between the ages of 13 and 18 years."

Ms Paynter also goes on to say that the school would be open between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and supported by one full-time teacher and one mentor facilitator.

The lot where Ms Paynter seeks to open the school is zoned Residential One and over half an acre in area.

An existing building on the site would be used for the facility.

Ms Paynter submitted the application for consideration of the Development Applications Board on April 30, 2002.

The Royal Gazette was unable to reach Ms Paynter for comment yesterday.
