MP urges BLDC to go public

St. David?s MP Suzann Holshouser is urging the Bermuda Land Development Company (BLDC) to hold town meetings about the progress of plans for the area.

According to Mrs. Holshouser, the BLDC intends to make several changes to the community including merging Texas Road with the main road.

?It?s always worrying with a conglomerate or large company that you don?t always get both sides of the story,? Mrs. Holshouser said.

She understood that a newsletter had instead been created.

BLDC operations manager Ellen Joell said: ?The newsletter is being sent out today (Thursday) and the residents of St. David?s should be receiving it soon.

?There have been no further decisions made on a town meeting,? she added.

Mrs. Holshouser said although the information would get out to the residents now through the newsletter, a town meeting should be organised to follow up with any questions.

?We still need that one on one communication even though BLDC say they have an open-door policy a town meeting should be the follow up.

?People will still have questions. They want to know how Texas Road will merge with the main road. Although there is a map up, people won?t often stop to look at it,? she said.
