A mother and son team who disrupted Thursday's plea court session are going to be the subject of a social inquiry report in the coming weeks.

Sixteen-year-old Andrew Williams of Khyber Heights Road, Warwick was released on $2,500 bail with a like surety on Friday after he admitted assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

On Thursday, after Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves fined Williams, his mother was heard to say: "That's it, lets go."

But Crown counsel Wayne Caines asked Williams to sit down and wait for a form with the details of the fine and payment. His mother continued to perform and a fight broke out between Williams and an officer.

It was discovered that Williams' mother had unpaid fines and he claimed to not like the way the police were treating her. After taking the plea, Mr. Greaves said: "I am concerned about him and I am concerned about how his mother performed yesterday.

"This child could not have been trained up in the way he should've been," he explained. "He needs some guidance, other than from his mother.

"I come from a working class background and I know how some young people will use protecting their mum as an excuse to fight."

Williams is to return to court on May 31 or the $2,500 fine could be extreted or claimed by the court from both Williams and his surety.
