Music lover blasts concert

Concert-goer Carlene Smith has hit out at a reggae concert which proved little more than a glorified karaoke night.

She said Saturday's event at Clearwater Beach started late with the Jamaican stars performing short sets to backing tapes.

On the bill were Stanner Benna, Anthony Cruz, Chuck Senda and Richie Spice.

"I paid $55 but I had no idea there would be no live band. The whole thing seemed more like karaoke," she said.

Promotor Donavan McKoi said next time around the posters will be more explicit about whether live bands were on the bill.

He said pre-show publicity had made it clear what the situation was and he said even big stars like Lil'Kim and Sean (P.Diddy) Combs used tapes.

He said the concert's anti-crime message had gone down well.
