Businesses and government offices are not adhering to health and safety standards, according to initial results from a workplace poll.

Health Minister Nelson Bascome said health and safety committees had not been established in many workplaces and awareness needed to be improved.

Health and Safety officers will now be making random visits to make recommendations.

And the Ministry is to hold training courses for health and safety committee members on April 15 to April 19 and April 22 to April 26. A "train the trainers" course is planned for May 13 to May 16.
