The Opposition last night accused the Progressive Labour Party of paying lip service to open government by not releasing all its submissions on constitutional reform.

United Bermuda Party leader Dr. Grant Gibbons said while the ruling party had released a summary of its submission to Government House, the PLP Government had not spelled out how it would carry out constitutional reforms.

"With the failure to release the details of their official government submission, this Government is once again showing contempt for the principles of open and honest government," said Dr. Gibbons.

"While the political arm of the PLP has released a summary of the Party submission, the PLP Government, which is supposed to represent all Bermudians, has failed to come clean on how they intend to guide the country towards future constitutional change.

"How can the Government be taken seriously in their call for an open dialogue, if they hide their submission?

"There continues to be an ever growing gap between what this Government promises and its actions. The fact that they have failed to disclose both submissions, one for the PLP and one for the Government, is extremely troubling.

"The people deserve to know what their Government is recommending and the people need the assurance that Government's actions will match their rhetoric. We call on the Premier to release the official Government submission without further delay."

The UBP has already released its submission to Government House.
