A man nearly became a human torch after he awoke to find gasoline being poured over his body.

Police said the attacker had a lighter in one hand.

His intended victim, however, managed to escape and Police are following up ?specific lines of inquiry?.

The incident took place on a boat on Perimeter Lane, Pembroke at around 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said the two men knew each other.
