A man accused of stealing jewellery worth more than $13,000 was sent to Supreme Court for sentencing yesterday.

Stephen Wilson, 43, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to stealing the jewellery from a home on the Railway Trail in Southampton last Thursday.

He was also accused of stealing 18 DVD's and a video camera from another home in Pembroke on Friday, and was also charged with being absent from Drug Treatment Court (DTC).

Crown counsel Wayne Caines told Magistrates' Court that when the Southampton woman came home last week, she discovered that someone had broken in and stolen jewellery worth $13,600.

Mr. Caines added that on a second charge, Wilson broke into a another home and stole the DVDs and video camera worth $1,100.

Mr. Caines said that Wilson was presently a member of the DTC and recommended that he be sent to the Supreme Court for sentencing.

Wilson said: "There is really nothing that I can say Greaves."

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves said: "I agree with the prosecutor; you have made a mockery of the DTC. We have invested so much time and money in you.

"Some people must live in jail and I think that you are one of those people."

Mr. Greaves remanded Wilson in custody and committed him to the Supreme Court for sentencing.
