Women in Public Life summit to be held in May
Bermuda will host the World Summit on Women in Public Life this May, a Government Press statement announced yesterday.
"Following the successful Women in Public Life Conference held in Bermuda in October, 2002, the World Summit will give Bermuda the opportunity to host an important dialogue concerning the role of women in today's challenging and complex society," said Tourism Minister Renee Webb who heads up the conference's organising committee.
"It will also allow us to discuss the steps that can be taken to break down the barriers which still prevent women from achieving their rightful goals and ambitions."
She promised a "truly international line-up" of speakers and guests to complement many "distinguished" local speakers.
The World Summit will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel from Thursday, May 27 to Sunday, May 30 and will be formally opened by Premier Alex Scott.
