The Bermuda Stock Exchange closed down 8.97 points as Butterfield Bank lost ground in heavy trading.

The BSX closed at 3,187.24 on volume of 24,362 shares worth $570,663.90.

Butterfield Bank closed down 20 cents to $40.75 on volume of 9,162 shares. Trading was also heavy in BF&M, which saw 15,000 shares closed unchanged at $13. Bermuda Commercial Bank was unchanged at $10 on volume of 200 shares.
