Bermuda is a tax haven, at least according to a majority of respondents to a Royal Gazette online poll.

A story in The Royal Gazette last week reported that an analysis by a US tax expert of offshore financial domiciles had classified Bermuda as a "pure tax haven".

Six out of ten of the respondents to the Royal Gazette poll agreed when asked the question: "Is Bermuda a tax haven?"

Of the 531 people who responded on www.theroyalgazette.bm 60.2 percent said "yes", 32.8 percent said "no" and seven percent said they did not know.

The poll ended on Thursday.
