Bermuda-based shipping company TBS International Limited, which went public earlier this year, yesterday reported that its second quarter profit jumped 14 percent.

TBS said net income for the quarter ended June 30 rose from $12.1 million to $13.8 million while revenue rose 21.5 percent from $49.8 million to $60.5 million.

For the first half of the year, revenue was up 28.7 percent to $121.4 million and net income rose 24 percent to $30 million.

TBs chairman and chief executive Joseph E. Royce said the company had added nine vessels in the first six months of the year to bring the fleet up to 27 and will add two more ships in the third quarter.
