NEW YORK (Bloomberg) ? Nordic American Tanker Shipping Ltd., which operates ten tankers to transport oil, said second-quarter profit rose 51 percent on increased demand.

Net income climbed to $14.2 million, or 68 cents a share, in the three months ended June 30, compared with $9.4 million, or 57 cents, a year earlier, the Bermuda-based company said in a statement on Thursday.
