Teleglobe loss widens
NEW YORK (Dow Jones) ? Teleglobe International Holdings Ltd. posted a wider fourth-quarter loss, which the company said isn't comparable to the year-earlier period because of the timing of its ITXC Corp. acquisition.
In a press release yesterday, Teleglobe said it posted a loss of $9.2 million, or 23 cents a share, for the latest quarter. A year earlier, the company reported a loss of $2.1 million, or 16 cents a share.
Fourth-quarter revenue rose to $280.2 million from $$214.8 million. The company went public in June after it acquired ITXC on May 31.
Teleglobe said it included the results of the New Jersey telecommunications company in the second half of 2004, but not in all year-earlier periods.
The Bermuda telecommunications concern is proceeding with its network unification and expects to complete integration during the next few months. The company said it has realised more than 50 percent of the annualised savings of $25 million to $30 million it targeted from the ITXC transaction.
Shares of Teleglobe recently changed hands at $4.55, down 45 cents, or nine percent, on Nasdaq.
