Pot complete fightback to rob Hood of the victory
Lobster Pot staged a dramatic comeback at White Hill Field on Saturday to erase a 3-1 deficit and earn their first point of the season during an entertaining 3-3 draw against A Division frontrunners and defending champions Robin Hood.
Heading into this match the defending champions had still yet to concede a single goal, however, Pot put paid to that when they finally found a way through Hood's defences. Hood threatened to blow this affair wide open after first half goals from Jar McCabe, David Wolffe and Shawn Brown had given the visitors a 3-1 half time lead. Dave Allison grabbed Pot's sole first half goal.
But a dogged Pot refused to lay down and play dead after the restart and were presented with a ray of hope after the returning Troy Berkeley converted to reduce his team's deficit to one.
The stage was then set for the late heroics of Jeremy Leese to level the teams in the 90th minute and earn his side a share of the spoils.
Hood dropped down a spot to second. Pot's Glenn Dyson, meanwhile, received a booking for time wasting.
New leaders MR Onions, kept their winning streak intact by shutting out Tuff Dogs 2-0 at Shelly Bay Field. Onions prevailed through goals from Richard Helm and Gary Garnette.
Elsewhere, despite edging by Key West Rangers 3-2 at Bernard Park, North Village Rams still slid down to third position.
Kenny Thompson, Craig Tyrrell and Treadwell Walker were Rams' goal heroes with a tally apiece, while Tillman Darrell replied by scoring both of Rangers goals.
At BAA Field, the referee obviously did not encounter any difficulties with the "excess" rugby markings on the pitch as BAA Wanderers wandered all over Vasco Mariners 5-1.
Wanderers led 2-0 at the half thanks to first half goals by Martin Jones and a 40th minute Nick Irwin penalty.
Further second half tallies from Teekai Rawlins and a double strike from Jahmall Miles put the match far beyond Mariners' reach.
Second half Mariners' sub Mark DeMoura scored a late consolation for his team.
BAA's Curtis Raymond was booked for infringement. Wanderers remain in fifth place.
