Ascot promotes Justin Keith to CUO

Ascot has promoted Justin Keith to chief underwriting officer, casualty/specialty in Bermuda. The promotion is subject to Bermuda immigration approval.

Mr Keith will oversee Ascot’s management liability and healthcare insurance portfolios, along with Ascot Bermuda’s expansive casualty/specialty reinsurance operation.

His promotion comes after spending five years at Ascot, most recently as head of casualty/specialty, where he was instrumental in developing Ascot’s underwriting capabilities and offerings.

He joined Ascot in 2017 from Hiscox Re where he had spent more than six years underwriting a range of specialty insurances in the Bermudian market. Before that, he was an underwriter in the US market, working at Ironshore and CNA.

Ian Thompson, president and CEO Ascot Bermuda said: “Justin has been instrumental in broadening our casualty solutions so Ascot is now active in most major classes of business in Bermuda.

“In this new role, I know Justin will continue to help provide underwriting oversight and product development as we expand our presence in the local market and provide additional solutions to brokers and clients.”

Mr Keith added: “Since joining Ascot in 2017, we’ve grown the business to be a diverse platform in the Bermudian market which can offer a range of (re)insurance products. We’ll continue to enhance our capabilities and ensure we’re a vibrant and diverse platform which combines excellent underwriting talent with market-leading claims and service – consistent with the Ascot way.”
