Youth Film Festival to hold workshop

A weekend workshop will give young film-makers a crash course in cinematography.

The workshop, which is being held next Saturday, will give participants in the Bermuda Youth Film Festival a chance to answer any question and receive technical support.

Therese Bean, Saltus’s performing arts, film and media teacher, will also show attendees how to film on a mobile phone, editing techniques and tips regarding camera shots and angles.

The workshop is free and open to all pupils.

The first Bermuda Youth Film Festival will invite youngsters to submit short films in three categories: the 60 second sprint, one to three-minute-long shorts and three to five-minute-long shorts.

Entries must include the Bermuda longtail, this year’s “signature item”, and youngsters can submit films in several categories, but only one in each category.

Each film will be judged by three professionals in the film industry and winners will have their films showcased at BUEI.

Applicants must be aged between 11 and 18 and have a teacher’s acknowledgement form to ensure the films meet requirements.

The deadline for submission is May 26 and winning films will be shown on June 21.
