The woman was uninjured, although her companion received a cut finger as a result of the fight.

A 19-year-old Pembroke man has since been arrested.

MAN FAILED TO PAY FINES CTS Man failed to pay fines A Hamilton Parish man, in Magistrates' Court yesterday will spend 160 days in jail unless he manages to pay outstanding fines.

Kelvin Thomas Douglas, 33, had appeared in court September 29, 1994, and was fined $1,600 in connection with two false documents charges, as well as one charge of fraud and one charge of intent to defraud.

His appearance was the result of a warrant issued after a December 31, 1994 deadline to pay the fines, four at $400 each, passed.

Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp, gave Douglas until the end of yesterday to pay the fines or face 160 days.

THIEF BOLTS AFTER BEING DISTURBED CRM Thief bolts after being disturbed A would be thief escaped empty handed yesterday morning after he entered a Southampton beach cottage but was interrupted.

The occupant told Police that he went into the kitchen around 2 a.m. yesterday morning and became aware of a man standing behind him.

On being discovered, the man bolted through the door. Nothing had been taken.

The incident is being investigated.

In a second separate incident around 5.30 a.m. a Paget woman disturbed an intruder who broke into her home.

The woman heard the sound of breaking glass and discovered the man who fled after she screamed. Apart from the broken glass, nothing else was disturbed.

POLICE DETAIN MAN ON DRUG OFFENCES CRM Police detain man on drug offences Police detained a 21-year-old Sandys Parish man at the Airport on Tuesday evening in connection with drug related and counterfeit currency offences.

He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial hospital for an internal examination and his luggage was left in the Police car.

While parked at the hospital, someone broke into the Police car and removed his luggage.

A 24-year-old Sandys Parish man was arrested in connection with the removed luggage.

FINED $500 FOR POSSESSING CRACK CTS Fined $500 for possessing crack A 22-year-old Southampton man was fined $500 in Magistrates' Court after he admitted possessing crack cocaine.

Shawn Paul Smith of Granaway Heights, pleaded guilty to the offence that occurred on November 3.

Sgt. Kenrick James prosecuting, said Police spotted Smith sitting on a wall near the Warwick Post Office talking to some Warwick Secondary students.

When the Police approached, he appeared nervous and the officers informed him he was going to be searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

At the Hamilton Police Station, he was searched and a brown paper twist containing a rock-like substance was found in his underwear.

An analysis revealed it was .73 grams of 85 per cent pure crack cocaine.

POLICE OFFICER WANTS INFORMATION AC Police officer wants information The Police officer investigating a Saturday morning accident involving a white Mazda van and a parked Mitsubishi car, would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the mishap.

Sgt. Ron Beech would like to interview anyone who may have seen the van travelling along Trimingham Road, Rural Hill or South Road prior to the accident.

The accident occurred on South Road around 3.00 a.m. Saturday near the After Hours restaurant in Paget.
