Director of Public Prosecutions Vinette Graham-Allen said that the DPP is not going to take any further legal actions against Josie Ray?s mugger. Last Saturday, Mrs. Ray, wife of businessman William (Cheese) Ray, died from injuries sustained during the mugging 19 months ago.

Tyrone Brangman, then 16 and of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to robbery and causing grievous bodily harm to 78-year-old Mrs. Ray (pictured).

Brangman was sentenced to three years? probation in Supreme Court on July 30, 2003, before then Acting Justice Charles-Etta Simmons.

He received a probationary sentence thanks to the testimony of Mrs. Ray?s forgiving husband William Ray, who said he ?felt no bitterness or hatred towards the defendant ... He left home at 13. No boy who has a decent home leaves home at 13?.

Yesterday Ms Graham-Allen told that ?the Crown was not going to take any proceedings against Mr. Brangman?.

She proceedings could not go forward against Brangman ?as a matter of law?.

?The prosecution would have to show that the death occurred with a certain time limit ? 12 months and a day,? she said.

Because Mrs. Ray died 19 months after the attack, her death could not be classified as homicide as it fell outside the legal time limit set for someone to die as a result of injuries.
