Trenching works in Southampton next month

Trenching

A section of Middle Road in Southampton will be shut temporarily next month as trenching works continue.

A Ministry of Public Works spokesman said the Belco trenching work will be undertaken on the first two weekends of August between Riviera Road and Rebecca Road.

“This work will require a full road closure for the safety of the public and the construction workers,” the spokesman said.

Workers are expected to be at the site between 7am and 7pm on August 6, 7, 13 and 14, with access granted to area residents and emergency vehicles.

The spokesman added: “Detour routes will be via South Road, Lighthouse Road, Southampton Princess Road, Camp Hill and Camp Road.

“The public are advised to use detour routes during the road closure over the two weekends.

“Bus routes will be rerouted to South Road. The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full co-operation of the public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result.”
