Traffic to take alternative routes during upcoming trench works

Trenching

St David’s Road will be partially closed for a little over a week as Belco trenching work continues in the East End.

A notice from the Ministry of Public Works said: “This road closure will allow two trenches to crossover St David's Road west and east of Stokes Point Bridge bend.

“The road closure for St David's Road will start from the Swing Bridge roundabout to the Police Station junction at Southside Road. All traffic will be rerouted via Kindley Field Park onto Southside Road (Wallers Point Road).”

The closure is scheduled to start on October 31 and conclude on November 8.

The notice added that the bus stop at the St David’s roundabout will remain in use, but the stop near the Southside Police Station will be relocated to Southside Road.

“Motorists are asked to use caution when passing through the Kindley Field Park and to look out for pedestrians,” the notice added.

Trenching work is also expected to impact traffic on Parsons Road next month as the Ministry of Public Works undertakes water main replacement work between Court Street and the Montpelier Road roundabout.

“This trench work will extend approximately for four months and will follow the road and part of side walk alignments,” a Government notice said.

“Parsons Road will have a one-lane closure from November 15 until March 3, 2023.

“Motorists are asked to avoid the lane closure or sidewalk closure sections on Parsons Road by using alternative routes via Marsh Folly Road, Palmetto Road, Happy Valley Road or Middle Road for the duration of this trench work.”

The ministry apologised for any inconvenience caused by the trenching work.
