City warns of road closures for international triathlon

The City of Hamilton warned today of road and parking lot closures taking place over the next few weekends for the World Triathlon Championship Series.

Car parks 1 and 5 on Front Street will be closed from Saturday starting at 6am until November 8.

There will also be no parking available on Front Street between Queen Street and Pickled Onion on Saturday.

On November 2, Front Street will be closed between Queen Street and Burnaby Hill from 6am until 6am on November 7.

A westbound access lane will be provided from 7.30am to 9.30am and an eastbound access lane from 4pm to 6pm.

The City Hall Car Park will be closed on November 4 from 6am until 6am on November 6.

Parking will be prohibited along Front Street, Reid Street, Church Street between Queen Street and Burnaby Street, Wesley Street, Queen Street, Dismont Drive, Cedar Avenue, Burnaby Street and Parliament Street Church Street and Front Street from 3am that night.

Queen Street will be restricted to one lane from 6am.

Saturday, November 5 will see many of the streets of Hamilton closed, as well as Serpentine Road and Cedar Avenue, between 4am and 1.30pm for the Age Group Race.

All of Church Street east of Burnaby Street and Victoria Street east of Parliament Street will be open during this time, as will Parliament Street, Court Street and King Street all north of Church Street.

Par-la-Ville, Cavendish and No 8 car parks will be closed during this time.

Sunday, November 6 will see all of Hamilton between Bermudiana Road, Church Street and King Street closed from 4am to 4.30pm for the Elite Race.

Cavendish car park and No 8 car park will also be closed during this time.

Any vehicles parked on these roads or in the car parks will be towed.

Police will also be available to direct traffic.
