Traffic snarled after Spurling Hill collision

Collision

A man was taken to hospital last night with what are believed to be serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision in Hamilton.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services responded to reports of a collision near the junction of Spurling Hill and Crow Lane at about 6.40pm.

“Early information suggests that a man travelling on a motorcycle was headed east out of the city and a woman driving a motor car was headed west over Spurling Hill when the collision occurred,” the spokeswoman said.

“The male motorcycle rider has been conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were reported to be serious.

“The female driver was not reported to be injured in the collision.”

Traffic was diverted away from the area and there were delays for motorists leaving Hamilton via East Broadway.

Anyone who may have seen the collision is urged to contact Pc Llewelyn Simons on 211 or the main police line, 295-0011.
