The Bermuda Hospitals Board has begun its search for a successor to Michael Richmond, its president and CEO.

A BHB spokeswoman confirmed that Dr Richmond is set to step away from the position at the end of his contract in December.

“Dr Richmond has been at BHB since 2017, first as Chief of Staff and from 2020 as president and chief executive officer,” she said.

“His contract ends this year and it was always his intention to return to the UK at the end of 2023.

“As this is a senior position, the recruitment process has started to ensure a robust, competitive process for the role and time for a smooth, well-planned handover and transition to take place ahead of Dr Richmond’s planned departure.”

An advertisement for the post, published in yesterday’s edition of The Royal Gazette, states that the BHB were looking for “qualified, highly motivated and experienced professionals to work in a supportive but demanding environment”.

The advertisement said the new CEO would oversee and lead the BHB’s corporate strategic plan and drive the development of corporate governance and accountability structures set by the BHB board.

Closing date for applications is January 20.
