$8,000 in goods from their employer.

Carmen Marina Butterfield, 38, of Morgans Road, Warwick, and Eric Eugene Wallace, 28, of Second Avenue, Pembroke, both pleaded not guilty to stealing $8,265 worth of equipment -- a surveillance camera, control unit, and JVC Monitor -- from Pro Tech Security on July 11 last year.

The pair, who were not represented, were ordered to return to court on February 13 for mention.

PEMBROKE MAN FINED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING CTS Pembroke man fined for impaired driving James Stuart Dillas pleaded guilty and was fined $450 in Magistrates' Court for riding while impaired on Court Street.

Police stopped Dillas, 49, of Mount Hill, Pembroke, after they saw him riding erratically and slowly on an auxiliary cycle just before 10 p.m. on January 22.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Police noted that Dillas was unsteady on his feet and they asked him if he had been drinking.

"I've had a few,'' Dillas reportedly told Police before agreeing to be tested at Hamilton Police Station.

But Sgt. Mouchette said once Dillas was there he refused to submit a breath sample.

SECURITY GUARD ATTACKED DURING DISTURBANCE CTS Security guard attacked during disturbance Laurie Macmillan Burrows was fined $1,600 for damaging property and assaulting a security guard.

Magistrates' Court heard that Police went to Dellwood School on Angle Street, Pembroke, on September 26 after receiving reports that a man was causing a disturbance.

A security guard told Police that Burrows had tried to steal a cycle.

Burrows, 23, of Devon Springs Road, Devonshire, had to be restrained but destroyed a Motorola radio owned by International Security and Investigation.

Burrows pleaded guilty to assaulting guard Roger Martin, destroying the radio, resisting Police, and damaging a Police car.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Burrows repeatedly tried to get at Mr. Martin and also tried to kick and bite Police officers. Also, he said, while on the way to Hamilton Police Station Burrows damaged the rear door to the Police car.

Burrows was fined $900 for destroying the security guard's radio, of which $850 will be used for compensation. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $100 for causing $45 worth of damage to the Police car. The $45 will be taken from the $100 fine.

Burrows must also pay, by March 31, $300 for assault and another $300 for resisting arrest.
